Welcome back to Uncover Your Magic: A Guided Micro-dosing Transformation, The Blog!

Today, we are going to dive into the topic of myth busting around psychedelics, specifically psilocybin. I am incredibly passionate about this topic, because there is so much misinformation out there on this subject, and I am here to set the record straight. If you have not read my previous post, I encourage you to head over to “What Is Micro-dosing?”

Micro-dosing is all about optimizing your mindset and environment when taking these substances.

I want to emphasize that psychedelics are not inherently dangerous or bad for you, contrary to what some people believe. We're going to look at what's really true based on science, not what the DEA tells us. I encourage everyone to be curious, keep an open mind, and look into the science themselves. Don't just take my word for it, go read, go investigate. I would love to have a conversation with you.

Mini history lesson!

Did you know the CIA played a role in introducing LSD to the general public? And then it backfired on them? The CIA dosed people with LSD without their knowledge to see if LSD could be used as a “truth serum” in biological warfare. However, these substances did not have the intended effects and instead caused individuals to question the government and its motives and expand their consciousness. Obviously this was not ideal for the government, which may have led to these substances being labeled as dangerous and illegal.

Now let's dive into this popular chart that you may have seen on the internet.

The length of the bars on this chart represent toxicity, which refers to a substance's ability to kill you. Ignore the colors on the top bar that say very non-toxic to approaching poison, but pay attention to the colors that correspond to the DEA drug schedule. Green means unscheduled, while red means Schedule 1, which are substances that are illegal and highly dangerous according to the DEA.

If you take a look at the graph, you will notice that the bars that extend out the farthest indicate toxic substances. Remember, toxicity refers to a substance's ability to kill you. At the bottom of the graph we have heroin, which is (duh) very dangerous and causes numerous overdoses.

Moving up the graph we come to alcohol, which is readily available over the counter and is unscheduled, making it easy to consume. It doesn’t take an unthinkable amount of alcohol to cause alcohol poisoning. If you move up a few more bars you will find caffeine, which is a stimulant and could also kill you in high doses. Aspirin is just above caffeine and can also be lethal. Above that, we have LSD and psilocybin, which are incredibly non-toxic. It would take 1,000 doses of these substances to kill you.

While some individuals may experience difficult trips, this is often due to their mindset and environment at the time of consumption. Set (mindset) and setting (environment) in the  psychedelic community refer to one's mindset and environment during the experience.

If you are in an unsafe space or not feeling secure, you may have a bad trip, which is why it is crucial to take these substances with proper set and setting and focus on your intention when using them. I heavilly emphasize proper set and setting in all of my work.

Alcohol, which is unscheduled, is much more toxic than LSD and psilocybin, which are Schedule I drugs. The fact that these modalities are not unscheduled is highly suspect in my mind. I believe it's because they are healing modalities that make people better in the long term, not in the moment like alcohol or other substances.

In my guided micro-dosing experiences we focus on your intention with using these substances, as well as creating an intentional space for your micro-dosing practice. This is to ensure a positive set and setting to maximize the amazing benefits that micro-dosing has to offer.

Micro-dosing is sustainable and powerful, and my goal is to help you feel better long term. I want you to climb the ladder of improvements in your mental state and make progress towards your most natural, happiest self.
